Every team using AI coding tools has the same problem: the bill keeps going up and nobody knows why. FORG is the answer.
In early 2024, we were running a small engineering team and had started giving everyone AI coding tools. Claude Code, Cursor, a couple of custom MCP setups. The productivity gains were real. The bills were also real — and growing faster than we could explain.
We knew roughly how much we were spending. What we didn't know was where. Which developers were the heavy users? Which projects were the most expensive? Were we getting good cache hit rates, or were we paying full price for every token? Nobody had answers.
The existing tools in the space — provider dashboards, spreadsheets, ad-hoc logging — all shared the same problem: they required the AI to be in the loop. You had to route API calls through a proxy, or add SDK instrumentation, or trust that the dashboard the provider gave you was complete and accurate.
We wanted something different. Something that lived at the edge, in the agent itself, and that observed behavior without being in the hot path. Something that processed metadata — never content. Something that worked across every tool without requiring each tool to be configured differently.
That's FORG. We shipped the first version internally in late 2024. By early 2025 we had a few other teams asking to use it. By the time we launched publicly, those teams had collectively identified hundreds of thousands of dollars in optimization opportunities — budget overruns that would have gone undetected, model policies that needed tuning, cache configurations that needed fixing.
UpgradIQ, Inc. is the company behind FORG. We're a small team, mostly engineers, based in the US. We are profitable, customer-funded, and not currently raising.
FORG processes metadata, not content. Session signals contain token counts, latency, and cost — never prompt text or completions. k-anonymity threshold ≥ 5 ensures no individual can be singled out from aggregates.
The agent emits signals asynchronously. There is no synchronous hook in the real-time path. Your developers don't feel FORG. Your AI tools don't slow down.
Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Copilot, or any editor with an MCP adapter. FORG plugs into the tools your team already uses — no workflow changes required.
Individual dashboards are interesting. Team dashboards are actionable. FORG aggregates signals across users, projects, and environments so the right person has the right data.
